QuFu is only a small city in southwest of Shandong province, PR China.  The city is mainly famous for the confucius, the founder of Confucian , which is the most influential thought in far east China , Japan , Korea, and indiChina.  The family of Confucius is a hereditary  landlord and gov official before 1949.  In the 2000 years long chinese history, no matter who is the ruler of China, Confucius is respected as his Teacher.

So, the QuFu city can still get millions of tourists every years from all of the world to visit. The epithet of QuFu is DongFang ShengCheng, which means eastern holy city in english. 

Confucius and his thought have been criticed by CCParty for 40 years. But the  situation have changed much in recent years that Chinese traditional culture graduatlly get their due respect and as the core of Chinese tradition Confucius become a hot topic again.

I am glad to hear that because i graduated from QuFu Normal University and my home is nearby the city. 

Generally speaking, most foreigh leaders who visit China usually choose Xi'An, BeiJing, ShangHai, HongKong et cities as their destinations. In my memory Prime Minister Fukuda　Yasuo (福田 康夫)  is the first one choose QuFu in their official visit. 

I believe the status of QuFu will became more and more important in the future.
